16th Annual ELLE Women In Hollywood Tribute Gala

Phew! That's an awfully long name for an event which took place last night in Los Angeles, and is pretty much an evening of dressed up actresses (both legendary and C-list) being honored for their achievements in film. Hollywood needs more award ceremonies like I need another foot cramp....As for the fashion aspect of the night Katie Holmes, though not sure what exactly is significant about any of her roles in film lately, looked elegant in see-thru Azzedine Alaia, while one of our favorite redheads Julianne Moore looked disappointingly drab in a shapeless dress and ankle boots. There's always the Oscars!...

Golden Globes 2012 Red Carpet Best & Worst Dressed

It was Hollywood's biggest night leading up to the Oscars in February, and besides best actress winner Meryl Streep's half drunk speech and unfortunate Western housecoat dress from 1991, the Golden Globes red carpet was awash in too many pale colors and a handful of gorgeous looks. Leading the best dressed pack was Salma Hayek who literally sizzled hot in Gucci, an ethereal Charlize Theron in Dior, and a gleaming redhead Julianne Moore who looked stunning in a tiered Chanel gown. And then there were the heaps of fashion bores and misfires, particularly involving the color green (see swamp creature photos below). Chief among the fashion offenders was Kelly Osbourne's blue fishtail and swim floatie-sleeved Zac Posen gown, and newly engaged Jessica Biel wearing a custom wedding dress from the Tim Burton movie Corpse Bride.
