D&G Menswear Fall 2011-12

In the world of menswear there is a universal understanding that as fashion seasons come and go, a shirt or a pair of pants rarely changes its foundational style spots, thus creating a perfect opportunity to best express oneself through color and pattern! Well, that very concept could not have been better expressed than through the candy lens brilliance of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana's Fall 2011 collection for D&G. Ok so I can do without the baggy front pants, but those color combinations are absolutely dazzling.... Hello gorgeous!

RedPoppy Loves......In Jackets We Trust

RedPoppy is loving these jackets! When you really think about it, one or two basic styles are never enough for the winter season, and that is why we all need at least five jackets to cover several different degrees of weather and style, which includes the always coveted leather jacket, the popular and toasty shearling, the edgy wool jacket, and one expressive and colorful patterned jacket. Ah winter, I do love you so! xo

Lazy and fat. That's what happened to me this past week when I spent a cozy and food-filled few days at home with the people I love. After months of working my Millinery fingers on Hats by Tanya's fabulous Fall collection, it was time to momentarily hang up my scissors and take a mini break to catch up on my writing and the latest colors and styles showing at some of my favorite shops. To my utter glee the Fall racks were filled with gorgeous peacock blues, spicy mustards, electric purples, deep wooly reds, and gleaming emerald greens. Then there were the pleats...My absolute favorite! Loads of frothy and deliciously pleated skirts, pleated dresses, pleats and more pleats! In the meantime I was dizzyingly drunk on color when I spotted the most gorgeous pair of shiny heels in a perfect lipstick red, sitting innocuously on the store shelf. Lucky for my wallet they were quite uncomfortable, but boy were they handsome. I returned home later that day with kaleidoscopic day dreams and some brand new hat inspirations....Who said being lazy was a bad thing?!...

The Cognacs, Caramels, & Oranges of Fall 2011/2012

It's no secret that Fall/Winter is my favorite season! I can't wait to wear a pair of yummy tights, wintery wools, shiny leathers, and all the rich colors in the Fall palette. Some of my favorites include the delicious Cognac and Caramel shades which happen to be warmly on the color radar for Fall 2011-12. Orange is a great color carried in from Spring, and if you are a redhead make sure to wear the autumnal shade in small doses such as an accessory or as part of a larger color scheme....

The September Fashion Issues

For even the most seasoned fashionistas who've seen it all, there is an indescribable pang of excitement and hunger when the big fat September issues start arriving in the mailbox. Packed with glossy pages featuring scrubbed and styled models wearing the latest wooly Fall collections, it creates an insatiable need for a whole new season of clothes and accessories...It's when my creative mind starts to spin with gorgeous images of chunky knit tops, complicated looking suede platforms, yummy winter color charts, soft leather booties, a rainbow of opaque tights (my favorites)....and on it goes until next Spring....I'm exhausted already and I haven't even begun!...Here are some of the mag covers I loved most, and do take note of the flowy chiffon-esque fabrics and silhouettes that are very on point for Fall....
